Sounds like you generally feel good about yourself, so I’d say you just need to find an exercise routine that will actually get you into the shape you prefer.

If you can get into it (it seems it really takes some focusing) check out High Intensity Interval Training.

These are short (usually less than 30 mins) routines you only do 3 times a week, but the intensity of them FORCe your body to burn its fat, even AFTER you’ve worked out,… and that’s a major reason why it works. (Usual cardio, e.g., jogging, walking, biking, only burn calories while you do them.)

It’s definitely intense, but also, you feel energized for a couple days. And it’s the shortest EFFECTIVE workout I know of.

My suggestion - Swimming and biking are some of the best, high cardio exercises there is. IF you are doing it right. If you like to bike and swim, look into ramping up the intensity to a level that actually produces results. Lounging around in the pool and cruising around the neighborhood on the bike won’t do it. If you are looking for something you can do in your living room, consider investing in a proper exercise bike. If you already have a good road bike, there are setups you can get to use them as stationary bikes. Make a rule that you are not watching tv or movies, etc. unless you are also on that bike and working on putting in serious miles.
