Can you light a cigar with a light saber?

I’m guessing no; the saber will obliterate the cigar before it can catch on fire but maybe if you got it really close without quite touching it? Somebody needs to try this on the next Mandalorian. Maybe it’s how they explain the disappearance of Cara Dune.

Technically yes (but I’d hold out for Mark Hamill if I were you).

No, you need a Jewish space laser.

This is better. I bought one recently (which was the genesis of this thread): https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B08J44PMH5

You’re right… but it’s butane. The idea was to have a Plasma lighter to light the cigar.

( … and if there are better plasma cigar lighters, no matter how old this thread gets, I’d like to know about them. )

“Luke…I am your Marx Brother.”

TIL- light sabers can be recharged by plugging its USB cord into a PC slot…

.

PS- That’s a cigarette. Cigarette smokers can eff off and die.

No, that’s a deathstick. Cigarettes weren’t yet invented in a Galaxy Long, Long Ago and Far Away.

Never mind a light saber. Use a sandman’s Weapon.

Don’t have an answer for the OP, but I do recall a gag video I saw online several years ago where Will Riker said phasers are good for reheating leftovers

No. You have to use the light sabre to start something else on fire, then you light the cigar off that.

So much of the simple knowledge is being lost.

A Jewish Jedi is a contradiction in terminus! Orthodoxy please!

( Does Jenny Agutter come with that too? My 13 year-old self wants to know. )

I think a light saber would be more likely to cauterize the cigar.

That’s what seems to happen to people when you cut off their limbs with light sabers. No blood spurting out, because the light saber neatly seals off all the blood vessels, even major ones. Even when Darth Maul was hemicorporectomied, his insides didn’t fall out.

So you’d end up with two pieces of cigar, with the tobacco leaf neatly sealed within.

A light saber isn’t a cigar lighter; it’s a cigar cutter.

The whole point of lighting a cigar is to smoke it, n’est-ce pas? I think a light saber accomplishes that.

A certain popular author disagrees with you on that.

Hmmm… no. I don’t get it. Would you care to fight my ignorance?

I THINK Chronos refers to The Dresden Files, by Jim Butcher.

Out of an abundance of caution, I’m making it a 2-part spoiler. One of the characters, Waldo Butters, is Jewish and he carries a lightsaber. Yes, there is a BIT of a backstory to that.

If you can use a lightsaber to light something else on fire, why couldn’t you use it to light the cigar directly?
