Can you perform this simple, common feat?

I can, but I was in my early 20s before I ‘learned’ how. It just sort of came to me one day, just like parallel parking.

I cannot whistle at all and I faintly resent it. Never have been able to. If I put my lips together and blow, I get a very faint faint sound but that’s about it.

I can’t whistle at all.

I can make a howling sound similar to blowing over the top of a glass bottle by cupping my hands the right way, but it doesn’t sound anything like whistling.

Oh, hey, my Daddy taught me that trick, too! With his beer bottles. I guess I’ll have to buy some bottled beer soon, so I can teach my 10YO!
(Thanks for the excuse to buy beer!)

Yes. But like someone else said, not completely in tune.

Same here. I’ve also found that having a gap between my two front teeth (upper) helps a lot.

I whistle at home while I’m doing things, mostly baroque pieces stuck in my head. I find it annoying when people whistle a lot, but so far, my family puts up with it. One of my sons whistles a lot, too. I used to have a friend in college who was in an early music group with me, and we’d sometimes whistle our parts in harmony. Good times.

When I play mmorpg’s, during fierce pvp I whistle to avoid swearing too much. Watch out, kids, you might be getting pwned by an “old” lady spazzily whistling Purcell.

Now that this thread’s been open awhile, could you explain how a non-vague thread title would bias a sample in a question of “can you do X?”
