Can you play Xbox 360 games on an Xbox One? My son has an Xbox One, and someone offered him a bunch of 360 games, because they’re going to a different system. When he said he had the One, not the 360, he was assured that the 360s will play all the way through on the One.
Only the games on the backwards compatibility list: http://www.xbox.com/en-CA/xbox-one/backward-compatibility

In addition, a gold membership in Xbox live also scores you two free Xbox one games per month, and one free 360 game, which is usually (if not always) Xbone compatible.
Are they yours forever, or do you lose them if you let your subscription go?
What do you think?
You lose them.
Not sure on the XB1 titles, but every free game I picked up on 360 is still mine, and they were purchased on what is now a lapsed account. (I switched accounts after purchasing the new console).
Yes, as been noted check off the titles against the backwards compatible list. Currently I have been playing bad company 2, ever since its addition to the list. One thing that should be noted, is that some games can be installed via the original disk, but others have to be installed via the multiplayer disc that came with the two disc games.

Well, with Audible you get a “free” book a month with a subscription, and they’re still yours to keep if you drop it. The idea being they aren’t really free, they’re included in the membership price.
Are you guys sure it doesn’t depend on whether you bought an “earlier” Xbox 1 or a later version? I’m just going by what my fifteen year old, whom owns both (the spoiled shit) says.
I have a later Xbox One. Just got it for Christmas. My 360 games only work if they’re on the list. Each one also requires a large download.
