Every once in a while someone posts a statistical or other factoid about the Dope. Is this the result of hand-tabulating things or are there scripts that can be applied to threads/forums?
For example, if I wanted to find out the longest break between posts in the Stupid Republican idea of the day thread or the day it had the highest number of posts, would I have to go though all 4,573 manually?
Depends on what you want to do. If you want a list of all the posters who posted to that thread and how many posts they had, you’d just go to The Pit, and click on the number of replies to that thread, and you get this.
If you wanted to drill down a bit deeper, I’m sure you could easily copy and paste the threaded mode information into Excel and do some pivoting and such to work with time of posts and such.
