Let’s say I’ve posted a handful of times to one of those fifty page threads, and I’d like to find all the posts I’ve made without having to search through each page of the thread for my name. I know the search function will allow me to search for threads I’ve posted to, or threads I’ve started, in one or more fora, and can search on keywords. But is there a way to say “Go to this specific thread and show all posts by me”?
I think this is what you’re looking for:
On the forum page with the list of current threads, note the “Replies” column at the far right, showing how many posts (after the OP) are in that thread.
Click on that number.
You get a list of all the people who have posted in that thread. At the right side of that page is a column telling how many posts each of those users has posted in the thread.
Click on that number.
I think that gets you a page full of all the posts made by that user in that thread.
That’s correct. It’s probably the easiest way to find all your own posts (or anyone else’s) in a long thread.
You can also use the Search this Thread tool located on the top right of each thread. Choose Advanced Search, and put your name in the Search by User Name box. The search will find all of your posts in that thread.
You can also use the Advanced Search feature and type your name into the username field and select ‘Show Posts’ and it will bring up every post you ever authored.
Thanks all. I forgot about the Replies number being a link that does something useful. And while the list of posters is sorted by number of replies and not alphabetically, it’s still a lot easier to look through than pages and pages of posts.
