Outside of the usual lovelyric, the music of the 60’s/70’s definitely was centered around certain tropes/ ideals.
I’ve just been listening to Australian '70 first lp by group, Pirana.
The word “freedom” is used. One track goes “Try to love one another…Peace is the way.”
A crazy amount of 70s prog is centered about war & soldiers.
So, I’m wondering…is there anything common linking the lyrics of the music of THIS generation?
No?
Howsabout this as an over-riding anthem for the youth of today:
bitterness at the fact that the future has been denied them.
Oh that’s easy.
Bling, in da club, bling bling, got to get my bling, dancing in the club, all yall don’t get me, blingin in the club mo money mo money, in the club, look at me.
(insert guest rap)
repeat above.
I take it then you are being acerbic and critical of the values of today’s youth???
Not at all, just the shitty popradio music.
Okay then.
So would you go as for as saying popmusic of today has no over-riding message - youth exhibit no concerns, causes. At least not in the music lyrics?
