A bit nippy in the NWT tonight.
A bit nippy in the NWT tonight.
So that means that in the past year, Canada has had a temperature variation of greater than 100 degrees Celsius!
but not in the same place!
a couple of years ago, we lived through an 80 degree swing: -40 in January, +40 in July
Yet.
Point.
So global warming is officially over?
So… Yay us?
Here in Edmonton, the low is -35 tonight, and forecast to be -37 tomorrow night.
That’s the actual government forecast for tomorrow. Good times!
For context, -51C is -60 degrees in the US, Liberia and Myanmar.
And the cold is also coming to Saskatchewan:
We do what we can.
Cold comfort, that.
In the Canadian/NWT settlements with those quoted cold temperatures - very few people have to suffer through them. Meanwhile - in Yakutsk, Russia - 300,000 people have to bear the cold (it’s -46 C there as I write this).
The quarter-million-year long decision tree that leads a bunch of apes evolved in the East African Rift to wind up living in a place like Rabbit Kettle, NWT, is truly a wonder to imagine.
Hey it says right there it had been 8 years since the last time…
You Canadians don’t know what real cold is.
Why, it’s 19F right now in Seattle.
CAN-NA-DA!!!
CAN-NA-DA!!!
CAN-NA-DA!!!
(bottom text so that the Board’s macros will allow me to submit my joke post)
The greater Edmonton area has a million people. It’s -42 this morning with the wind chill, -37 without.
But it’s a dry cold
Earlier today, we were at -37C. Now, we’ve warmed up to -30C, and the predicted high is -25C.
Bright sunshine though, so there’s that.
Just doesn’t look seasonal without a minus sign in front of it.
