Canada, we have our own skeletons in the closet.

I’m not exactly sure what to say about this. If it’s true, it’s awfully sickening. I live in one of the towns mentioned.

This isn’t the first time allegations of this type have been made in Canada.

There’s a $60 million commission being organised to investigate this latest claim. Only way they may find the truth is to search the grounds, I guess.

How is it possible that I’d never even heard of the other mass grave? How shameful, of me, for being ignorant of my country’s history, and my country.

I’d heard about the cruel conditions that occurred for decades in residential schools for Canadian Indians/First Nations, but not mass graves. Any idea of the timeframe?

The mass graves are news to me as well. :frowning:

If they get a real Truth and Reconciliation Commission with some teeth behind it, and not some wimpy little lapdog leashed by the Powers That Be, that will be good.

Although Ice Wolf’s link is a bit, um, conspiracy obsessed (it even throws “top-secret CIA mind control operation MK-ULTRA: from the covert importation of NAZI scientists” into its tale), other far less fringe sources confirm the tragedy. Here’s the Wikipedia article, some CBCarchives and a NY Times article on the Duplesis Orphans. None of the articles specifically mention mass graves, but they paint such a disturbing picture that I unfortunately can’t say that the finding of mass graves surprises me.

Ice Wolf, be careful who you cite. Linking to somebody called “Knowledge Driven Revolution: Thought Based News” is probably not a good idea. The article wants us to believe that the Canadian Government, the CIA, the Vatican, and Nazi scientists formed a cabal to perform mind control experiments on orphans and, get this, “the illegal experimentation is still taking place while we speak”! Might as well throw some UFOs and freemasons in there, too.

When people read something like that, Ice Wolf, their BS meter starts to go haywire. They doubt the events ever happened, and that only compounds the very real tragedy that took place in the 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s.
