Canadian please!
This is bizarre and somewhat horrifying. I love the way Cisco put it: “It carries all the asshole of the N word and none of the balls.”
Canadian please.
Can we look forward to a rash of Canuxploitation movies?
As an actual Canadian, this pisses me off. So these jerks aren’t brave enough to man up and admit their views? Let them twist in the wind next time they come crying to the real Canada for water or oil.
Jeez. If we’d known you people were going to be this much trouble, we’d have made our own maple syrup.

And chickenshit to boot. I’m glad I’ve never heard someone say it. That would piss me right off. Hateful jackasses.
I’ve heard “Canadian” as a code for black for at least 10 years.
I’m embarrassed that Revtim was quicker than me on that “Canadian please” joke.

That’s what you get for living on Canadian time.
I guess it puts a new meaning to Pierre Vallières’ book : White Niggers of America
I guess I’ll have to stop using the term canadianly.
Was he not using “Canadian” as a synonym for “liberal” (or “Communist”) — as in “bleeding heart liberal”? Read in context, that actually makes sense, and wouldn’t be an off-the-wall insult, unlike conflating a racial epithet and a nation.
The evidence that “Canadian” being used instead of “n*gger” is widespread, cited in the article, is not even remotely convincing, IMO.
Because of copyright issues I did not want to quote any more of the article than I did in the OP, but if you’ll read it, you’ll find that the word “Canadian” is now being used in daily discourse to mean “African-American,” not “liberal.”
If this is true (and based on the posts here I believe it is), I think the idea is that there isn’t any obvious connection. It’s probably not inspired by anything historical; it’s just supposed to be something people wouldn’t expect to mean “black.”
I just wonder how it came about and how it spread so far. It must be a relatively recent phenomenon, at least 10 years according to one poster. It’s just…odd.
I’ve never heard of this, but I don’t get out much. Well, at all. Anyway, here in the borderland, we make fun of actual Canadian Canadians a lot (not meanly, but kind of in the way you make fun of your brother after he runs over himself with a truck). I wonder what the inevitable eavesdropping rednecks **thought **we were talking about.
But am I still safe in referring to our friends north of the border as Canucks?
At present, that might be the only safe (i.e., unambiguous) word for them.
Next thing they’ll be calling all the Latinos “Mexican” or something.
What?
Help, help, I’m being oppressed!
I knew that there were racists in this country, but I didn’t realize that they hated blacks THAT much!!!

#17 is interesting. “Canadian” is a “non-offending” New York code word for “Jews”? Anyone confirm? “Non-offending”?
Yes, I heard years ago referencing Jews. The “non-offending” part is silly: the whole point of the usage is to bash openly yet secretly.
I move that we now call Puerto Ricans “New Zealanders!”
