The season has just begun, but the league leaders in Baseball are Les Montreal Expos and Toronto Blue Jays. Last year we suffered through a New York subway series. Now will we have a Canadian World Series? And one of the teams is French Canadian…sacre bleu!
Funny thing is, the Canadian teams, like a lot of teams, feature Latin players with names I have trouble pronouncing: Ugueth Urbina, Vladimir Guerrero, Jose Vidro, Esteban Loaiza, Carlos Delgado, Raul Mondesi. Holy Cow, the American Pastime has been taken over by foreigners! Say it ain’t so!
1992 and 1993 saw the Blue Jays win two WS and the Expos get good. In 1994 the Expos probably would have captured the NL West crown but for the strike.
Seems like both teams may be coming back. However, this early in the season it’s difficult to tell.
Yup…As a Mets fan we saw Montreals power.Let me tell you they certainly don’t lack power. It’s not just Guerrero and Vidro. They have this kid Bergeron that is an EXCELLENT center fielder.Only CF’s in the NL that are better is Andruw Jones and Griffey.Lee Stevens CRUSHED us.The only weakness I can see is Pitching rotation. It’s early in the season but the Expos are looking good.
As a Yankmee hater I’m actually rooting for Toronto…well…let me rephrase that.I’m rooting for ANYONE who plays the Yanks.
