The question is basically that. If I am threatened on the street and I have, say, a Swiss-army knife in my pocket, how much danger do I have to be in to use it? What if I have a heavy-headed walking stick? Will I be charged with assault with a deadly weapon if the person threatening me isn’t similarly armed?
