Canadiens fan, lemme show you where to put that banana

Dear Mr. Pot,

I’ve greatly enjoyed our meeting.

Sincerely,
Mr. Kettle

[sub]PS: Was the above-referrenced expression originally racist? If anyone knows for certain, I’m genuinely curious.[/sub]

ROFL, Tygr. (If it wasn’t just a load of Buncombe…)

Again, you’re reaching.

Although no one can know for certain except the person who’s uttering the phrase, generally expressions such as “pot calling the kettle black”, “calling a spade a spade”, and “black-toothed-grinning hick” have no racial overtones whatsoever. To make such utterances or actions taboo just exacerbates racial tension needlessly, which is my point precisely.

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. I could misunderstand and infer (or imply, whatever) that you were calling me a brain-damaged pothead and fly off the handle or I could give you the benefit of the doubt. Please accept that there are other possibilities regarding the banana throwing incident.

I’ll spare you my theory but you should understand that there are plenty of people who wish to portray Quebecers as racists for reasons that you are probably unaware of. Southerners don’t have any monopoly on being unfairly maligned.

You know Kevin Weeks is a black panther. He has black panther stuff on his pads and mask.

Actually, Fan, the Panthers are the Florida team. Weekes plays for Carolina. I can see how you would be confused, seeing as how they are both located in the southern US.
