Cancel Culture and Canceling versus consequences for actions

Wow, that is a disgusting group of individuals.

Two things to which I’ve made semi-frequent reference, and that these texts (being disclosed) bring to mind:

[There are YouTube videos about each. They’re as gripping and fascinating as they are disturbing and timely]

Who clearly can’t think up a good joke to save their lives. So they fall back on haw-haw-hawing about bigoted slurs and attempted “shock value” hyperbole.

I mean, it’s not such a surprise that they don’t mind bigotry, but it’s a bit of a surprise that they all seem convinced that saying bigoted things automatically means they’re just so witty and cool.

The right likes to call this “locker room talk”. The right also likes to hold themselves up as the party of Christian values.

I really think the only comments that will be deal breakers for Republicans are the criticisms of Trump.

I’m kind of amused by this story because it appears they are destroying their own reputations through their own petty infighting and the guy who deeply apologized while simultaneously suggesting the texts were doctored is just gold.

Humor is often transgressive, about saying things we aren’t supposed to say.

It’s just that the standard that these people want to transgress against is “bigotry is bad”.

Under the cover of the “well if you’re going to call us Nazis then we might as well act up like it” insane “logic”.

That Trump, a bastion of free speech protections.

In the interests of being a non-partisan big mean cancel-baby who ruins reputations: Sen. Ruben Gallego Groans Democrats Don't Allow 'Women to Be Hot' in Leaked Texts

Yeah, the Republican Party doesn’t have a monopoly on shallow douchebro assholes, even if they do have a strong numerical majority in that category. Gallego’s yearning for “men to be men and women to be hot” is classic shallow douchebro asshole, Democrat or no Democrat.

The specific mocking of the 80-year-old Congresswoman from CT for not being “hot”, though, reached above-average levels of disgusting entitlement. I hope Gallego’s own abuela rips him a new one for that, and reminds him that he’s no oil painting himself.

That, plus the brazenness of Gallego’s doubling down post-leak by claiming he just wants the Democrats to be more “inclusive” (of whom? shallow douchebro assholes whose idea of constructive political discourse is making fun of elderly female colleagues for not being “hot”?), makes me suspect that he’s got a bright future in the Republican Party. They love them some “anti-woke” turncoats over there, and aren’t bothered by lying.

SMDH, you just can’t say anything anymore.

How long until she has a GoFundMe going and seat in Congress?

I understand that there already is a gofundme and she already has made more from being a racist bully than her yearly salary at Cinnabon. MAGA loves their racists.

I thought GoFundMe was pretty good about taking down fundraisers for racists, Christian nationalists, and murderers like Luigi - hence why people in those categories flock to GiveSendGo instead.

In this case, I see a few GoFundMes that are still up in her name, but I’m assuming those are fraudulent (they’re set up by other people and you tend to see that whenever one of this things happens) - what appears to be her real fundraiser, where she’s got over $100,000, is GiveSendGo. (Actually, this one was also started by another person, so who knows - maybe this one is a fraud, too.)

With GiveSendGo being a “Christian” site I thought it might be pretty exclusive to the racists and Christian nationalists, but apparently Luigi did get one after his GoFundMe was taken down, and he raised over $1,300,000 there. So I guess it’s for all kinds of trash.

GoFundMe doesn’t touch things like this with a 39 1/2 foot pole, but GiveSendGo will finance just about anything. Yeah, this one goes there.

p.s. GiveSendGo also raised 7 figures for Karmelo Anthony, a teenager who killed a boy from another school at a track meet. Be prepared to dive down a VERY deep rabbit hole if you want to pursue that story.

And here’s anotherl link WRT her GSG. I took one for the team and not only looked it up, but also checked out the comments. Yeah, they don’t censor that either.

That’s… surprising to me, because I recently lost a friend to cancer who tried to raise funds using GiveSendGo. He was a Jewish anti-theist and he and his wife were raging liberals. I did notice a Bible verse on the website and thought, “huh,” but now I’m bewildered how these two people chose that platform. (Maybe someone set it up for them?)

Almost certainly, I think that’s much more common than people setting it up for themselves
