Golden Years, a Stephen King TV series from 1991. I don’t remember details, but someone had discovered something that reverses aging. Frances Sternhagen’s husband was getting younger when the series ended. I’d like to know how much younger he’d get, and whether Frances’ character would catch up with him.
Hmmm…two of my choices were mentioned. John Doe which just left a huge cliffhanger and Joan of Arcadia which was just a bad ending. Of course the series was pretty shaky that last season, so that didn’t bother me nearly as much as John Doe.
One that wasn’t mentioned was the short-lived Kyle XY. It was an interesting show (to me) that ended by explaining one big mystery, but left the series with a pretty big cliff-hanger.
I don’t know that 7 Days ever really ended the series. It just sort of …stopped.
Note that CBS might do something to close Jericho
I n+1 John Doe, though aparently the secret was
When you die you get all knowledge. JD got all the knowledge but managed not to die
Drive certainly had a lot of unanswered questions.

Kyle XY hasn’t been canceled! The second season starts June… um… 1st or 11th, or something like that. I’m awaiting to see how it goes.
Nice little show, not too preachy, and has a good kick to it.
The gempoop incident was picked up (ew) in a later episode and the Saudi Arabia incident was part of a two-part episode and was resolved by the end of part two.
Am I missing the obligatory mention of “Twin Peaks” upthread? While some TP fans here are satisfied with the “resolution” to Cooper’s trip to the Black Lodge, others aren’t (I’m OK with it myself but wouldn’t have minded a sequel instead of a prequel, David). In addition, there were a number of cliffhangers and unresolved storylines.
Also “Wonderfalls.” Another one-season gem strangled in its crib by Fox. We never learned what was behind Jaye’s “muses.” The creators in DVD commentary tracks indicated they had stories planned out through season three.
I missed the mini-return of “Tru Calling” so there may have been some resolution I don’t know about, but the last I saw Evil Jason Priestly was revealed to be in league with Tru’s thought-to-be-dead-(I think) father.
“Angel” technically ended on the unanswered question of which if any of the MoG would survive the final battle, but I’m quite all right with that. The theme of the winning or losing being less important than the fight was well-established so the ambiguity of the ending was perfect. I’ve heard rumors that the Buffy season 8 comic book will include more information about the outcome but I don’t read the comics and as far as I’m concerned they don’t exist whether Whedon declares them canon or not.
You’re kidding me…it’s been on hiatus for what…9 months? Stupid networks. Thanks for letting me know, I think it’s still on my Tivo, but I’ll check.
{edited to add} That was for the Kyle XY comment obviously. :smack:
Oh, and of course no thread on series that left unanswered questions is complete without mention of “The Prisoner.”
What do you still want to know?
I watched Huff on Showtime until the ending episode, which left a lot of plotlines unresolved.
And Deadwood also left things hanging, although there may be a couple of two-hour movies to tie things up.
*There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what “The Prisoner” is for and why it he is there, he will instantly disappear and be replaced by something more bizarrely inexplicable.
There is another theory which states that this has already happened.*

The weird thing about Golden Years is that it was planned as a six-episode miniseries, and all six episodes were aired, so the unanswered questions weren’t due to premature cancellation. I have heard that the DVD version has a revised ending.
Now and Again
Well at least with that we know how most of the characters end up…them being real people and all… I doubt the movies are going to happen. Hell HBO is promoting John Adams starring Paul Giamatti and that doesnt come on for atleast 7 months. Ther’es been no peep on the Deadwood movies since before the show actually ended.
And Danny about to be shot by his biological dad, Chester, for having sex with Chester’s wife.
And Bert about to be shot by gangsters.
And Jody still being a 92 year old jewish man.
And Mary’s baby being a space alien.
Bob and Chuck seemed to be okay, though.
If I remember correctly, the shortlived Earth2 basically ended on a cliffhanger.
It wasn’t the best thing on television, but I’d take it over the later Star Trek spinoffs anyday.
According to some insiders who post at the HBO boards, Milch has written the scripts, they’ve stopped taking down the Deadwood sets at the Melody Ranch, and they’re still paying the bills for costume rental, etc. But none of the actors have been signed.
My theory is that the Deadwood movies will live or die depending on how John from Cincinnati does. If Milch gets another hit, HBO won’t be able to deny him.
I’m still dying to know what happened with crazy brother-- was his girlfriend dead? And drugged out Oliver Platt and his new kid. And Huff and his wife. And Huff’s son terrorizing that bully.
WHAT HAPPENED??!!!
Oh yeah, I liked that one. Tim Curry as a crazy bad guy! What’s not to like, poppet?
So who/what was “My Big Fat Obnoxious Boss?”
Not sure if that show actually did air to completion, but one reality show that did get pulled was “Playing it Straight,” in which a woman had to choose amongst a number of suiters, some of whom were gay. If she picked a straight one they split some sum of money and if she picked a gay guy he got it all. Fox took it off the air after like three episodes, saying they would finish airing it later in the year, but never did. They did release the results at some point, though, and may have finally aired the whole season on Fox Reality.
Re: SOAP. Didn’t Jessica turn up on an episode of Benson, thus proving she hadn’t been killed by the firing squad?
