Cancelled shows with unanswered questions

The ones that upset me the most were Joan of Arcadia, John Doe and Invasion.

Then, in sitcomland 2 Guys and a Girl.

in the last scene we find out that Ashley’s pregnant with Pete’s baby. And she’s not sure if she’s going to keep it or not. He tries to convince her to make a real go of it with him, she’s unsure…roll credits. grrrrr. That one ended in a cliffhanger because they were suprised to be cancelled. At least judging from a contest they ran towards the end of the season with a prize of a walk on roll the next season.

Drive: So many questions and possibilities, and only three episodes.
Will we ever get to see the other eps on DVD?

Oh, and Nowhere Man, which ran for just one season. What would have happened to Thomas Vale if the show had continued?

Surface

So do the leviathan’s eat all mankind or do we learn to live in peace together … once humans grow gills.

Drive aired 4 episodes. Supposedly there where two other episodes that they had finished shooting that may get aired at some point but I have no idea when.

That won’t really help though, since it was planned as a 13 episode summer series so we’d still be missing the final 7.

And add me to the list who would like to have known how Invasion would have come out. I read somewhere that the setup for the second season was to be that

Tom (the sheriff) would discover that his first wife was still alive (in the sense that she had also been replaced) and was one of the leaders of the “invasion”. Dave (the conspiracy theorist brother) would join some sort of underground militia that was fighting the “invaders”. Russell (the ranger) and Mariel (the doctor, his ex and Tom’s current wife) would get back together and he would have to try to keep her out of the hands of the government. No mention in what I saw as to what would happen to Larkin (the reporter, Russell’s new wife) except that it was not planned for her to return for the first part of the season.

Moonlighting - Maddie and David never solved the Anselmo case.

Yeah, I came in here to say that. I aquired the series through sadly illicit means, since the ABC won’t let viewers outside the US watch from their website. The season and it’s plotline was satisfactorily resolved, but the “day break” mechanism was never explored fully.

Spoilering for any eventual doper who may want to see this gem of a TV-show. (Hey, it’s got Adam Baldwin as a dirtbag lawyer! It’s got Adam Baldwin, period)

That plotline was left off in the middle of the season, when the only other guy who “had it” was left to reconvalesce with a scientist who didn’t appear again. It’s my suspicion that that thread would have been the basis for a second season, exploring the whys and hows of the Day Break. Also, the chemicals inserted into Hopper’s neck was never explained and I sincerely doubt it was merely a sedative.

carnivale. a whole lotta people were seriously pissed about that particular cliffhanger!

Serenity on Amazon is at 174 in the rankings…and the box set of the series is STILL at 74 (how long has it been off the air?) That’s pretty impressive, even if the box office receipts don’t tell the full story.

Why is it possibly necessary to spoiler box speculation about a television show that will never exist?

Oh, and to be 100% nit-picky, Buffy technically ended on an unanswered question.

The re-make of “The Fugitive” ended it’s first season with Richard Kimbel being shot by either the cop or the one-armed man, I forget, so we’ll never know what they planned for that.

Also, all three of the attempts to cash in on the popularity of “Lost” with serialized mystery/sc-fi themes; “Surface”, “Threshold” and the already mentioned “Invasion” left viewers with nuthin’.

“Firefly” will probably end up in the comics. That seems to be Whedon’s last resort now.

Yeah, I loved that show. The final episode, with him running in the house, grabbing her and the kids and saying they need to get out, with the govt. guys busting in right after they run out. Even more of a cliff hanger than John Doe.

And Cupid. Great show. But was he?

She appeared in two episodes. The first, “Jessica”, aired in 1979, two years before the Soap finale, so Jessica had not been in front of the firing squad yet. She was very much alive and well.

In the second one, “God, I Need This Job”, which aired in 1983, the Tate family is seeking to have Jessica declared legally dead. Jessica appears as an apparition that only Benson can see or hear. The staff believes Benson has gone off the deep end. Jessica reveals to Benson that she did not die in South America, but is in a coma, and pleads with Benson to convince the Tates she is not dead.

Lost in Space.

Did they get back to earth?

REMEMBER WENN . Who will Betty choose? What of Jeff and Hilary? Will Mr Foley ever get a word in? Rupert Holmes, I need to know.

Cool. The only episode of Benson I can ever remember seeing is one where they go to Germany. I only remember it because I was studying German at the time and laughed my butt off when Benson stepped onto an elevator and said to a native, “Wie ghet’s, homes?”

July 4th. they’re burning off the last two episodes back to back.

Ah, I wasn’t sure if that one left on a cliff hanger or not.

Also, Space, Above and Beyond. Did the Asian guy survive, did the aliens sue for peace or keep fighting after the bomb at the meeting between the humans and aliens?

Drive had it easy compared to Thief.
