Cancelled TV Shows So Far (early Nov. '03) - Write an Epitaph.

The thread on whether Oliver Beene has been cancelled, had me thinking, what actually has been cancelled so far.

Checking in with Pazsaz (warning: lots of popups), we find these cancelled shows:

[ul][li]Boomtown (NBC) [/li][li]Coupling (NBC) [/li][li]L.A. Dragnet (ABC) [/li][li]Luis (FOX) [/li][li]Skin (FOX) [/ul][/li]And now the fun part. Their epitaphs. I’ll start…

Skin made mine crawl, I was happy to see it in the slough off pile.

Peace.

“The Brotherhood of Poland, N.H.” was also cancelled, as was “The Ortegas”.

My epitaph for “The Ortegas”: How can we miss something that we never saw?

Skin: Parting is such sweet sorrow.

Never saw any of the others.

Coupling: Did the creators even watch the British original?

Luis: Unappealing, unfunny star

On a related topic, were there ANY new Saturday Morning Cartoons this year? Or were they all preemptively canceled?

The only new one I noticed was Sonic X, which is anime. That’s all fine and good, I suppose…but if it’s a Sonic series that don’t feature Bunnie Rabbot and Princess Sally, I jus’ ain’t int’rested.

And in my region, Fox kicks off the morning with a full hour Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century reruns. And ABC seems evenly divided between Lizzie McGuire and Recess (Why won’t that damn thing die?).

Lyon’s Den (also cancelled)

Not exactly a roaring success.

The Ortegas

Juany, we hardly knew ye.

Reagan - the mini-series

Forget it.

Boomtown blew up.

Coupling came undone.

L.A. Dragnet failed to catch anyone.

USA Networks’ Peacemakers is not being renewed.

Crap. I really liked that show. It had interesting plots, and Peter O’Meara is as cute as a button. And I’ve always been a big fan of Tom Berenger too.

Crap. Crap. Crap.

The WB’s Tarzan is “on hiatus.”

Epitaph: You Tarzan, me bored.

I liked the New Dragnet, Ed O’Neil as Friday, I guess I was the one who watched this show.

No, I watched it too, sometimes.

It could have used more Ed and less pretty new vapid faces sprinkled around. And either go with how Friday feels totally, or ignore it. Their Friday was all over the map.

To quote Ed’s onetime TV daughter, “I can’t believe they changed–then cancelled–my show!”

L.A. Dragnet: hauled away by ABC

Lyon’s Den: eaten alive by the competition or :thrown toi the lions.

Boomtown: gone ghost town

Tarzan: couldn’t live out of the wild

SKIN: His father is no longer the district attorney.

Last I heard, Lyon’s Den is on hiatus, so not officially canceled yet. NBC claims it’s coming back in December.

(Um, if anyone cares.)

I don’t know if it’s new, but I was pleasantly surprised by Teen Titans, which I accidentally taped on the WB lineup.
