I remember when Canfield’s diet fudge soda was so popular there was a story in the local paper about people hoarding it and driving all over creation searching it out. When I finally tried it, I was underwhelmed, to say the least.
Yep, at least here in Manhattan. I’ve seen it in D’agostino’s and Food Emporium, two large supermarket chains. And I liked it quite a lot back in the day. Admittedly, that ‘day’ was the late 1980s when I was briefly on the Atkin’s diet, so any form of chocolate was a godsend. But I remember it being quite good, especially when ice cold and paired with a bit of whipped cream made w/sweet 'n’low. (I know, it sounds odd, but again: anything sweet was greatly missed.)
I’ve seen it at Publix, but haven’t bought any for a long time. I did enjoy it; it was more commonly available around here into the 90s, but it was something only a few people knew about even so.
I’m outside Chicago and the large chain store Jewel carries it. Pretty expensive–at least $3 for a six pack. I have a can in my pantry. Hope it’s still fizzy–been there for at least 6 months.
Fizzy may not be the issue. If it’s sweetened with aspartame / Nutrasweet, it may not taste right anymore. Aspartame has a very short shelf-life, and stops tasting sweet after a few months.
Saw it in Giant in Reading PA and bought some. I remember it as being fantastic, but it came off as very underflavored and I apparently don’t like it anymore.
