Cannot read all the files on my camera's memory card

I have an HP R818 camera. Recently, it does not allow me to extract movie mode files from the camera. My computer will tell me there are 52 files on the camera. My camera will tell me there are 62 files on the camera. The difference is my camera is counting the movies files and my computer can’t see them.
I have tried to extract the files with Picasa and through My Computer.
I have not removed my card and placed it into a card reader. I do not feel like I should have to. This is a new problem and obviously a software or setting problem.
Any ideas?

This is exactly why I use a $10 card reader. It’s faster, easier, and has far fewer ways to go wrong. I’ve heard or people having problems with video files, and they’re almost always solved by using a card reader.

Then you have not explored all the options to help you solve the problem yourself, and should not be asking this question.

Hope that didn’t sound snarky or anything, but really. Try a card reader. And after your files all download, do yourself a favor and format the card before taking any more pictures. I’m betting you only ever ‘erase’ or ‘delete’ the images, which will eliminate the images from your card, but not all information.

If you tend to shoot a lot of movies with your camera, you may also consider dedicating one card for movies, and a second one for stills. But if nothing else, reformat the card in the camera after you download your images.

I guess I’ll get a card reader. The reason I say that I shouldn’t have to do that is because I never had problems until recently.
Thanks for your help.
