Pictures stuck on CF2 Card, help.

Okay, so I should have known this was jinxed right away. I was going on a vacation. I grab my camera and look for a memory card. Ahh, there’s one right in the card reader. I pull it up to make sure it’s empty. Hmmm, why does the computer want me to format it? Strange, whatever. I put it in my camera, take a couple of pictures and take a look. Odd, it didn’t record any of them. So I format the card, take a couple more, review, yup they saved, were in business.
Get home, put the card in the card reader, it’s still asking me to format the card. I put the card back in the camera and I can review them just fine on the camera LCD. So I plugged the USB cable into the camera and I still can’t see them on the computer.

Any ideas? I’m guessing the card is corrupted, but since I can see them on the camera I’m wondering if there’s any hope of getting at them.

At least they were crummy pictures. I brought the wrong lens and it was a REALLY boring town (Munising, MI).

There are a lot of apps out there for recovering images from corrupt or erased cards. It’s been a few years, but I have had good luck with Lexar’s Image Rescue (the version I used was included with the cards I bought).

I have used V 3 to recover photos from a card that had been formatted twice. On the other hand I’ve failed to recover images from a card that had not been formatted. :smack:

So I guess it depends on the issue, but worth a try and the software’s free. Available here

Could also be a problem with your card reader. Have you tried sticking a USB cable into the camera while the card is in?
