I’ve been on Facebook for a bit, and noticed something very curious. For each friend, the indicated number of pictures in the photo album is always wrong.
It might say, ferinstance, that John has 43 pictures. Click on John, it tends to be more like 17 (usually less than half).
Jane, on the other hand, is said to have 15 pictures. Jane, unlike John, has multiple albums. There are only 5 in the profile album, but many of the other albums have each have more than 15.
Any other Facebookers notice this? Is there something I’m missing? Or is FQL, well, FeQaL?
It’s not telling you how many pictures they have, the number is telling you how many pictures they’re tagged in. So, if John only has 17 pictures (that he’s tagged himself in all of), that means there are 26 pictures of him that have been tagged in other people’s albums. In Jane’s case, she only tagged herself in 15 of the pictures she has in her albums.
Under a person’s profile picture, it will say View Photos of Whoever (the number of photos). The number is say, 100. So it says View Photos of Whoever (100).
But then you click that link to see all tagged photos of Whoever (from them and others) and it will say at the top for example, 76 pictures. But the link on the profile page said there were 100. Where are the other 24?
I suspect that that happens when a person is tagged in X photos, of which Y are photos tagged/owned by a friend of the person who has his/her photo settings such that people who aren’t their friend can’t view their pictures… Or something like that…
Yes, that’s it. My settings are like that - there’s plenty of photos of me (drunk) which I don’t mind being shared among friends, but would rather not have them popping up on random friends-of-friends’ feeds.
