Can't get Genius playlist to work on iPhone

I just bought an Iphone over the weekend. I’m new to iTunes and Apple products. The problem I’m having is I can’t make a Genius list on the iPhone. When I click on a song, it tells me that Genius doesn’t have enough info to create a playlist.

I’m running Windows XP SP3. iTunes version is 8.1.1.10. Genius is turned on in iTunes. iPhone software is 2.2.1.

I’ve heard of other iPhone owners having trouble making a Genius list. Does anybody have any instructions for getting it to work?

After a bit more trying, I figured it out. Since I have ripped most of my own music outside of iTunes, iTunes didn’t have data for enough of my songs. So I had Genius scan my music library, then re-synched my iPhone. There are now enough songs with data that the Genius list now works.
