Where the hell’s my music? I have dropped a load of tracks and an exploratory couple of playlists onto the iPhone, but when I go to the iPhone’s iTunes app, it just tries to sell me a load of crap. I’ve signed into my iTunes Store account on the phone, and authorized my computer, but nada. Used the search function to find albums I’ve put on, and all I get is the Store version of the same album, asking for money. I’ve googled the crap out of these issues, but found nothing.
Why can’t I put pictures on the bastard? (I’m using a PC - I gather that iPhoto does the job from a Mac). I’ve managed to save a couple of pics from Picasaweb and my email, but I want to be able to synch entire directories. Google reveals I need Photoshop Elements. Really?!
Weird that something so amazingly intuitive in so many other aspects, is so incomprehensible in a couple of others.
I have an iPod Touch so it might not be the same. But the iTunes button is to connect to the store. There should be a Music button at the bottom left of the screen. Thats where your loaded music should be.
You don’t want the iTunes button, you want the iPod button. It’s in orange.
For the pictures, well, I’ve found it to be slightly unintuitive, but at least you don’t need photoshop elements.
What you do is, you connect your iPhone to your computer, click on your iPhone in the list, select “Photos” from the tab, and then select the directories you want to sync with the iPhone.
It may be a bit of a bugger finding the directories you want, which is why I suggest you set up an “iPhone Pictures” directory and go from there, rather than digging through your all your photo subdirectories.
I just got an iPhone a few weeks ago and had similar issues with the music. I was able to fix it; it has to do with the sync settings. I’m on a Mac, so if you’re on a Windows machine this may be different. But these are the settings I adjusted (if memory serves correctly). Access these settings in iTunes after connecting the iPhone to the computer. Click on the iPhone at the left in iTunes; you should see these checkboxes appear on the right under the Summary tab above the iPhone:
Uncheck “Automatically sync when this iPhone is connected”
Uncheck “Sync only checked songs and videos”
CHECK “Manually manage music and videos”
After adjusting the settings, try dropping a tune or two onto the iPhone. Let us know when/if the issues are resolved.
