Can't Pass English? It's OK!

From here , a high school senior failed English, and had his parents petition the administration to change his grad from an F to a D. One of the “reasons” given was that the graduation rate in New Mexico is dismal. That’s great, let’s just lower the bar!

This is probably pitworthy, but I don’t feel the need to curse, so I figured it’d get moved here.

[Ralph Wiggum]Me fail English? that’s unpossible![/R.W.]

Homer corrects:
Me fail English? that are impossible!

And teachers are obligated to accept late work now? It didn’t work that way back in my day (waaaay back in the mid to late '90s)
I don’t have kids, but I’d like to think that when I do have them someday one of the things I’ll teach them is to take responsibility for their actions. If you want to be lazy and not do your work for school, fine, but then accept the consequences when that means you can’t graduate. I kind of feel bad for the kid, since he’s being cheated out of his education at an age when he’s too young to even appreciate what he’s missing out on. I don’t think that having his daddy fight his battles for him will get him very far in the real world.

Next time someone complains about immigrants that don’t learn English, just point them here. See? They’ve assimilated perfectly!
