Can't think of the right word...(scientific term)

Hey guys, I have a question about what the best scientific term is that describes the general physical/chemical phenomenon in which a bunch of objects/entities/particles starts off clumped together closely and then with the passage of time spreads out so that the particle separation distance increases with time. It’s on the tip of my tongue but I can’t seem to remember it…

Thanks.
Jay

Diffusion?

Yeah!! That’s the one I was thinking of. Thanks.

I would have guessed: dispersion

Although your question has been answered, another word that’s close to what you’re looking for is entropy. I’ve always wondered if there were some way to reverse entropy???

Entropy was the first word I thought of.

That makes three of us.

I was thinking Brownian Motion.

Insufficient data for meaningful answer.

You wouldn’t say that if the car you were driving was a Fiat Lux!

Nicely played!
