I will never, never sign up for one of your cards. Why? Because when I had a balance, you scumbags wouldn’t let me on for a reduced rate. Now that I have no balance, and an 10K limit, you can kiss my little pink one! I don’t want a credit card from a “bank” that has to solicit through “shaking” Internet banners, in any case. Shake your fat bloated ass right out of my wallet.
Here’s another “No Thanks, Capital One”. Seduced by the offer of no interest for six months, I signed up. Three months later, they were still billing me for a charge I’d paid off in the first month. I called an 800 number and told them the check had cleared my bank. They told me I had to call the bank, get a copy of the check and call them back. Sounds simple. I got a copy of the cleared check, tried the non-800 number six times; never received a call back. Finally I called the 800 number was bounced around departments, asked for my Social Security number too many times, put on hold and after two hours, finally got the charge and late fees removed. Their error cost me time and money and aggravation. More to the point,if they don’t correct their records, my credit history is weakened. This corporation is aggressively seeking customers but basic book keeping seems to be getting behind the marketing. Too many bouncing banners, I think.
I agree, and I tell everyone I can not to do business with Capital One. I had a balance, I got laid-off, I couldn’t pay the minimum payment. I in no way denied my responsibility to fully pay off my balance, and I sent them money every month, it just wasn’t enough. Two other credit cards worked with me, put my line of credit on hold (I’d already put the cards in a drawer–I wasn’t smart enough to control my debt, but I wasn’t going to add to it when it was already a burden), had me pay a reduced amount each month, and did not report me as a credit risk. As soon as I got a new job, I transferred the Capital One balance to the other cards (credit lines on these two cards had been fully restored after 6 months of making full minimum payments). I still carry those two cards, and they don’t make a lot of money off me, I keep my balance pretty low and pay it off without too much interest, but Capital One will never make any more money off me!
I work for another credit card issuer and I used to work in the payments processing area.
We would sent back,on average,50% of the checks Capitol One issued to us-automatic payments for mutual customers-because they had invalid account numbers. It’s hard to post payments when half the account number is missing or transposed.
