I didn’t see a thread on this movie so sorry if there is one already.
If you don’t like this movie or Micheal Moore, please kindly share why as well.
Anybody seen it or planning to?
I saw it on Friday and thought is pretty cool, he went all out to make his point and I thought it was very appropriate and even INSPIRING! I left the theater in an enlightened spirit and saw new potential for how America could work, even more than his other movies.
Of course no spoilers here for those who still want to watch it, but tell me why you want to see it or not, and if it’s better than his previous films.
Can you please explain the subtitle for your thread title (“Socialist enough to see it?”)
A simple play on words on whether you think his ideas are fetched and impractical, or you really like this kind of documentary and think their ideas are useful. I am not asking anyone to state their political affiliation, it was more like an innocent joke? Sorry for the lack of clarity.
Okay. No need to apologize–it just made you seem as though were a committed socialist asking likeminded SD’ers to tell you if the movie was sufficiently socialist to justify your attention.
I haven’t seen it yet, btw, and so I have no opinion to offer to you. Sorry.
Yeah maybe I should have put, " Are you inclined enough towards the ideas of Capitalism: A love Story, and the filmmaker to want to go and see it? Or do you see the whole thing pointless and could care less if the guy makes any sense or not, or do you just plain hate the guy cause his ideas and movies are so stupid that you don’t want to see his movie?" But that wouldn’t fit in the title.
I saw it and was completely underwhelmed – the topic is too big for one two-hour movie, and he threw in all kinds of bits and pieces of things that got his dander up but don’t necessarily have anything to do with anything.
Plus he doesn’t really deal with the contradiction between his enthusiasm for Obama – which I share – and the fact that Obama is using a lot of the same people he (Moore) criticizes as capitalist tools from earlier administrations.
I generally like Moore and am definitely an old leftie, but the film was overambitious and fell short.
