There’s still folks that don’t seem to have gotten the message, e.g.
I posted some where else recently that I needed to accept that I only watch Caprica due to its connection to Galactica and that I was waiting for it to get good. For me, the major problem was that it took what I hated most about the Galactica, the ham-fisted discussions of the nature of God, and made it central to the plot without actually improving the writing. It had got to the point where I lost interest as soon as someone mentioned God.
I also found the virtual world embarrassingly early nineties.
Coming to think of it, I am struggling to think of anything Caprica got right. IMHO it was epic in how badly it screwed up a decent concept, much like the Matrix sequels and the Star Wars prequels.
Frankly, one of the main things I wanted to see was how Joe Adama was going to become one of the most famous litigators in Colony history, complete with writing an entire series of law books. That wasn’t even close to becoming a plot point.
Yeah I liked making comparisons of Colonial culture to our own, but especially seeing the differences of how they viewed monotheists while practicing their polytheistic ways. I kind of see their society (and maybe it was the intent of the show’s creators) as our near future.
As for the Tauron mafia, I mostly like their setup. Maybe it’s due to my not being really into the Godfather series so I don’t make many comparisons but on its own I find it interesting.
I liked the first half of the season, but since it came back it’d just been moving so damn slow. And I really got sick of all the Clarice stuff.
