Especially since Tony Stark has demonstrated superior intelligence-gathering capability to the US government, trumping ominous satellite imagery by hacking the Senate’s computers to show his enemies’ embarrassing home videos.
I do wonder though about Steve Roger’s hesitation. In this continuity, he had legitimately been a Captain in the Army, why would he disapprove of having a Command structure.
Because the last “command structure” he reported to turned out to be the very entity he was enhanced to fight against.

I think the villain progression has been fine.
I do think they have a viable Masters of Evil with surviving villains and concepts. I kind of expect Thanos to create a first assault based on them in Infinity War pt 1.
Red Skull, Abomination, Justin Hammer (maybe with a stolen or bootleg Iron Monger suit), the real Mandarin, and Nebula. Introduce a new Thor villain like Skurge and/or Enchantress and you’re good to go.
I think there’s a middle ground between the politicians tell the Avengers what to do and the Avengers do whatever they want and the right answer leans more towards the Tony Stark position. At the very least it isn’t unreasonable to have a document that countries sign that says they are cool with the Avengers operating in their territory.
His first combat mission in this continuity was as a result of disobeying a direct order from a superior officer. He’s practically as bad as Tony at taking orders.
I didn’t like that Cap didn’t know what to do until he went to Peggy’s funeral. The whole thing was an awful bludgeon and, beyond that, Cap is the last hero in the pantheon who should need to be reminded of his ideals.
Just now remembering that Scarlet Witch has mind control powers that she didn’t use at all in this movie!
Perfect non-lethal tactic when doing battle with friends. She must have just really wanted to throw cars at people.
Reminder to self: before leaving car at airport, check to see if “Thrown across a tarmac by Scarlet Witch with little or no strategic purpose” is covered by my insurance.
Meaningless nitpick: the movie states 117 countries; according to Wiki there are currently 196 declared countries in the world, so more apparently declined to join the accord than one might think. I wonder where Latveria stands on that issue.
Sure, but what happens when aliens who pose a threat to the whole planet show up in a country with a “no Avengers” policy? A government controlled team would have to stand down, but autonomous heros can say “screw that.”
Bear in mind that her mind control powers require that she sneak up behind someone and wiggle her fingers at their head. Hard to do that to people who know it’s coming.

I enjoyed the movie overall, but did anyone have a problem with the 3D creating an annoying strobing effect in scenes with a lot of action? I about went crosseyed during the big airport fight.
Also, admittedly trivial but the Audi product placement was hilariously blatant.
Considering how many “cross promotion” Audi commercials I’ve seen in the last month, I’d have been disappointed if it wasn’t. I’m mildly vexed that they weren’t all sitting around eating Pizza Hut during that scene where they were discussing whether to sign the accords or not.
She got the drop on Black Widow pretty easily. Probably would have been better than throwing her spine-first into a landing gantry.
She seems more able to suggest ideas to the unconscious than to directly control someone (e.g. gets Banner to lose his temper and Hulk out, but she doesn’t control him).

I’m just saying that if I had had my car parked at that airport, I’d have preferred that she mindfreak a few of her friends rather than throw my car at them.
Eh, it’s sort of the anti-Latveria. Except for Doomy’s personal gizmos, Latveria is stuck in some sort of folksy feudal lalaland.
It’s similar to Cap 332 and 333, which IIRC are the first time he gave up the shield. He may not need to be reminded, but it’s a way to remind the public that his ideals are beyond and above any specific government.
The very concept of the film reminds me of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Slayer.
That’s going to require some explaining -
Both were awesome films?
Lol seriously though, I loved it. I really loved Spiderman’s actor. Normally, the idea of yet another reboot of him would just make me roll my eyes. But I’d actually go see it just because of him. My only question about Civil War though…How the hell would Captain America know about Bucky killing Tony’s parents? Everything in the movie made it seem like even getting the footage was some huge undertaking because the Russians had hidden it so well.
