CAPTAIN BEYOND - sufficiently breathless..Anyone owned this album

This group from the 70"s released this album has anyone ever owned it??
:smack:

Owned it, couldn’t get into it. Huge disappointment, as CB’s first album was and remains brilliant. I’ve had my copy of that lenticular-cover first album since 1972, as well as both of the CD versions that came later. Still listen to it frequently. Caldwell’s drum work on this album is as good as any I’ve ever heard. Sufficiently Breathless sounded to me like a different band.

Agree. Didn’t buy it, but their first album was great.

I first heard A Thousand Days Of Yesterday on a Warner Bros. sampler*. We bought every one of those, from Songbook through Limo, and were introduced to a lot of new bands, from classic (Little Feat, early Kinks) to quirky (pre-famous Bowie, Sabbath) to subversive (Captain Beefheart and The Fugs). And Captain Beyond.

*“Burbank” (the cover looked like Chicago’s second album), I still remember ATDOY was followed by Bob Weir’s Cassidy.

I had it on vinyl and now I have it on CD. My favorites are the title track, Bright Blue Tango and Everything is a Circle.

I’ve got it. Would have to fight off the black widows in the garage to dust it off. Was surprised there was a second. Loved the art in the fold-out. Didn’t like the music much as the first one,

Same here. Bought the CD (maybe an early release) and was severely disappointed with the sound quality especially as it was supposed to be “from the original tapes.” Seemed to be compressed in dynamic range. I still play the LP on occasion as an example of top notch playing throughout the band. Alas it’s deteriorating.

Second album was not so entertaining or connected to the first.

My roommate in the dorm in college had this album as well as the first one. I had taped them but at some point wound up taping over them. Don’t remember a whole lot about it.
