I have a video file and I want the audio from the video. How can I take the audio and make it a seperate file? Don’t worry, the audio I want is Renaissance music, so I don’t think there will be a problem with copyright issues. I need an answer to this very soon so please try to answer this post!
VirtualDub will do just that.
It depends what kind of video file it is. If it’s an MPEG or an AVI, you shouldn’t have any problem demultiplexing the streams with the freeeware VirtualDub. After installing the program, go to File->Open Video and browse for your file. Once it’s open, go to File->Save WAV and choose a location for the file.
If you’d rather your outputted audio be an MP3 or something else, you can change that in VirtualDub, too. After you have the video open, but before you save the WAV, go to the Audio menu and select Full Processing Mode. Then go to the Audio->Compression to define your settings. When you go to save the WAV after that, make sure you specify an appropriate extension instead of leaving it at the default WAV.
thank you SO MUCH!!!
