Grabbing the audio from a video clip

I’m putting together a Music & TV trivia night, and one category I’d like to try is “Guess the TV show from the theme song”

I’ve got a pretty good collection of TV series on DVD, so if I ripped down an episode onto the PC, anyone have any suggestions for how I could extract an mp3/wav file of the audio from the video file?

Not for DVD, but this is great for youtube to mp3:

I used Audacity to record the audio from one of my concert DVDs.

If you already have VLC, it will do that. Look for the “convert” menu.
