I would like to record audio from various media for a sort of “montage” thing I’m working on. I need to know what tools/methods are best.
DVD: Can I use a tool to take the audio from the “audio file” and convert it to another format (is it already mp3?)
MPEG2: Easy way to get just the audio track?
Flash Game: I want the sound effects recorded AS I PLAY A GAME. I need the sound effects in a specific order and it would be easiest if I could just record the audio of the game during play. Possible?
*This is of course assuming none of these activities will infringe on anyones intellectual property rights…
DVD format is essentially MPEG2. You’ll need a program that can read the DVD .IFO and .BUP files like TMPEGenc or TMPEG Xpress that can read the file and will allow you to save each stream separately. You can then modify the audio using another audio applicaiton such as goldwave or any other similar program.
Same as above. I believe there is also a modded version of Virtualdub (freeware) that will read MPEG2. You strip the audio file using that program too.
The easisest way to do this would be to record from your own sound card. If it will allow you, set the record input to “What you hear” and start recording. Otherwise use the proper cable to loop back form the audio output to the line in on your soundcard.
