Possibly by telling the sheep that if she doesn’t, they’ll bring out the bear.
A big white bear.

A big white bear.
I thought it was cos they told the sheep they’d still respect him in the morning!
hey, ixnay on the earbay, we don’t want EVERYONE knowing what happens in the bear pens on a lonely mid-wetseason night!
How do I get off The List?
Can I offer you chocolate? Beer? I make really good brownies.
How about beer and brownies? That’s always good for a mid-morning snack.
I find this quite arousing. Bear pens… mmmmmmmmm… is it just me?
BiblioCat if not for the fact that I am a boy who likes boys, I’d marry you.
If not for the fact that I’m already taken, I’d take you up on that offer, sweetie.
Are we done fighting over Swampy yet? Just checking to see if it’s safe to come in and post. Fortunately I don’t really fit the description of brawny or burly, although I am strangely fascinated with his strange fascination of males of this type. What could the biological imperative here possibly be?
I had bold coffee and two fresh Krispy Kremes this morning, nothing can keep me down (although if I did that every day I’d start to be a bit burly albeit not quite so hirsute).
Apparently the weather heard you, swampy, so it’s cooled off. I agree with Kallessa- I really like Fall, Winter, and Spring. I HATE Summer. Bloody stupid ‘temperate zone’ with a temperature range of -30 to 45C and bad humidity. Gonna move to England or something, where even if it’s humid, it’ll be cool.
Did I already mention that we may road-trip to Philadelphia for Labour Day weekend to visit our best friends? Somehow the number of people going has mysteriously increased to include Quasi-Daughter and Driving Husband. Should be fun.
Driving Husband has started making chocolate ice cream and bringing it over here. The fun thing is that the recipe calls for whole milk, and he substitutes table cream and whipping cream.
“White” polar bears? Sorry, but we know the REAL story about Singapore polar bears.
I’m on The List? Does this mean I don’t have to wait in line?
How quickly they forget. <heavy sigh>
Alone again, naturally.
Update: The filing cabinet problem has been satisfactorially resolved.
I didn’t evan have to kill anyone to provide an object lesson for the others.
Hurumph! Green patches are nothing. This one is purple!
I ar engineer. I dint kin rite r spel gud.
Okay, there really was a purple polar bear at those co-ordinates. Really and truly, would I lie to you. No, I wouldn’t. I would, however, forget to check the link before I hit submit. :smack:
So yesterday is my birthday. I’m trying to get home to the Shibbletts and I’m waiting (and waiting and waiting) for a password update to be mailed to me so that I can do an EFT and get home. Finally I say screw it, I don’t care if this is due today, it doesn’t seem to be coming. So I head home and on the way I stop in to a couple of little places. One is a boulangerie/patisserie and I get some pastries and bread. Then I get a call from my parents, I’m guessing it’s to wish me a happy birthday and set some details on a bbq that we’re cooking up for the weekend, a sort of mini birthday party. But instead my father tells me that my grandmother has passed away. They think it was probably Monday. The neighbors got concerned since they hadn’t seen her and her newspapers had been piling up. She died in her bed, probably in her sleep. Her one remaining animal, an old cat, was lying in bed with her waiting for her to wake up. So after we got the kids some custard at Ritters (great frozen custard place) I took some pistachio nut custard down and visited with my folks. We discussed logistics and talked about my grandmother. She was pretty and vain in her youth, and could be a bit mean at times, but was generally harmless and a decent old broad. She’d been gently losing her mental faculties over the past several years, probably Alzheimers, and could get grouchy if she thought you were not filling her wine glass all the way (we often weren’t) and with the wine she would be a lot worse in the afternoon/evenings than the mornings. But beyond that she’d always been in pretty decent health and she outlived her husband by quite a while and her daughter by a couple of years. She had a nice run and it was a pretty good way to go out. So now that’s two close relatives (and my last remaining grandparent) gone in the past week. Mrs. Shibb’s last grandparent died a couple of months ago, so no great-grandparents left for the Shibbletts now. C’est la vie. What a strange month this has been.
Shibb I’m so sorry for your loss. Man, this has been a tough month for the Shibb clan. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Also, Happy Birthday even though it’s a day late. Normally I sing Happy Birthday very loudly, very off key and very red, but that just doesn’t seem appropriate right now. I wish you peace and strength.
Kalley what can I say? BiblioCat offered beer and brownies for a mid-morning snack. I’m weak! I cyber lusted behind your back. (Well, I guess not behind your back since it was right out there in the MMP but you know what I mean.)
So far this week, I have had a straight man tell another straight man to back off cause I’m his while another straight man has commented on me being fought over and stating that he is fascinated with my fascination about burly men. Now, see, if my real life love life could get this interesting, I’d be less inclined to want to hurt people at work. Probably. Well, at least until somebody does something to get me all po’d. Or doesn’t do something which gets me all po’d, which is actually more the case.
Ex I’m glad the filing cabinet situation got settled without mayhem, bloodshed or major po’dness. I take the major po’dness statement back on second thought. I got a feeling that happened.
Lissla driving hubby also makes yummy chocolate ice cream? Him you should keep then.
The purple and green polar bears were just disturbing.
ShibbOleth, I’m so sorry for your loss.
And Happy belated Birthday.
Hey, Kallessa, think about it for a minute. swampy doesn’t want me, he just wants my goodies.
Oh, wait, let me rephrase that…

Sorry to hear of the loss of your grandmother Shibb. Keep her alive for your kids by talking about her to them and keep showing them pictures of her. My sisters’ kids remember/know my mom because my sisters have done that for the last 11 years.
and a Happy Birthday to you. I will toast to you this weekend!
p.s. Happy Friday everyone!!!
I’m deeply sorry to hear about the losses you’ve suffered this month, Shibb. My sympathies to you and your family.
I also lost my grandmother and last surviving grandparent this year. My Granny also died in her sleep Easter Sunday morning, at 101 years old. Knowing that she died peacefully in bed, in her own house, where she wanted to be, helped, but I still cry when I think about her being gone. I wouldn’t be who I am today without her.
I’m not religious, and I don’t pray, so I never quite know what to say, but I will be keeping you and your family in my thoughts this weekend, and sending supportive vibes your way.
Is there someplace we could send a donation in her name?
