Capturing a Real Audio stream

Good morning,

There are sites (i.e. Oyez.com) with excellent streamed content, but content that I am not content to listen to while contemplating my computer. I’d like to put it on a MiniDisk, take it for a walk or to the fitness center or listen to it while vacuuming. Does my computer (running Win 98) hold the file in a cache somewhere? Is there reliable, safe shareware program that will do this? A setting I am not familiar with on Real Player?

Also, does anyone have any non-contentious amicable comments regarding the relevant copyright laws? I want to use this one time only, for my own personal use. I just don’t want to be in the room with the computer while it is streaming. Am I still within acceptable uses of the material?

Thanks,

Rhythmdvl

I have had mixed success in retaining downloaded audio streams by rummaging through the \Temporary Internet Files folder immediately after the audio has played.

I assume that you, like me, found that when you tried the “save target as” option, all you got was a very small file - the link to the website.

what you might try is hook up a cable from your soundcard out jack into your sound in jack and record it from there. Real Audio doesn’t want you to do this so they make it hard.

Try Total Recorder. It’s an excellent shareware util that does exactly what you’re looking for.

cheers,
