Car fan and rain

Why is it when you turn the fan on in your car to clear the windshield when it is raining, why doesn’t the water get to the fan and ultimatly into the car?

Sometimes it does. I have had two cars that in a hard rain would blow droplets of water out of a lower vent.

Normally, you don’t get any because of the shape of the intake duct in the dashboard, which has a curve which the rain cannot turn around to hit the fan blades.

In winter, snow gets in there. An unpleasant surprise…

You get in the car, turn it on, and all the vents blow snow on you.
