car radio reception

As referenced in another thread my local NPR station is shutting down service.

Now if I want to catch NPR, the ONLY station I listen to, I need to recieve a station about 60 miles away. I can catch this station (88.7) on a good day, but most of the time the signal fades in and out. Is there some sort of filter, antenna, or radio I can use to improve this situation. Currently I have a plain factory radio in my car.

thanks
michael

I feel your pain dude…No NPR, I’d be in serious depression. Perhaps you could work with the old station to get a list of subscribers and get together to get a translator.

Don’t know where you live, but in mountainous country, we have repeaters or translators to pick up the original signal and re-broadcast it. It’s possible you already have a nearby translator board nearby, in which case all you have to do is get enough folks together to request the other NPR station.
