carb-free pasta

A question for the teeming masses. My wife and I are on one of these no carb diets, and losing quite well, however I’m getting a little sick of eating steak. The food I miss the most is pasta, Alfredo mostly. Granted that I can eat all the fat, protein and fiber I want, would it be possible to make pasta out of a mixture of a pure fiber flour and pure wheat gluten (Provided these things exist, of course) Or is the starch absolutely necessary to it’s structure? I know it’s probably a pipe dream, but with the popularity of the low carb diets right now, someone who could sell no/low carb pasta or bread could become a rather wealthy person.

I’ve been tempted by all the quick loss stories, but I value my kidneys too much to try one of those diets. I also could never trust a diet that considers pork rinds to be a recommended snack.

Anyway, aren’t there some types of flour that are considered low enough carb–e.g., soy flour? I know some people avoid grains in their diet, so there might be soy pasta out there somewhere.

I thought it said no-crab pasta. That seemed like something that would be pretty easy to find.

“Cheddar?”
“We don’t get much call for that around here, Sir.”

I’ve heard the no-carb diet is really good for losing weight, but can cause serious health conditions because of the loss of nutrition.

It’s the high amount of protein that your body has to flush out that causes problems.

It works. However you gain it right back soon as you have a nice bowl of tasty pasta.

–avoiding the question of whether no-carb diets are good for you–

Have you tried spaghetti squash? I am not sure how much carbohydrate it has, but IIRC it is pretty low.

Yeah Green Bean I tried the Squash, It just doesn’t hold the sauce like it should. And the taste is a little off, but thanks.

And guys there is no loss of nutrition on this diet if you eat right. Bread, Pasta, Rice, cookies, etc, are all empty calories. I actually eat more greens than I used to. Sure a diet of pure pork rinds would be no good, but it’s not any worse than a diet of pure cheetos.
