The only way that carbon can be cooked up in a star (that I know of) is for 3 helium nuclei to undergo fusion. However the probability of this occurring is extremely low and therefore life (our type) shouldn’t exist.
It appears, however, that there’s an out to this conundrum and it goes by the name carbon resonance. Anybody know enough about this phenomenon to explain it to me?
