Just got my first LCD flatpanel, an ACER AL1917CBMD. Very sweet.
Is there any good techniques that’ll help this expensive item last as long as possible?
Power saving? Screensavers? etc.?

The backlight -usually an array of slim flurorescent tubes- has a finite operational life. Power saving options will prolong the usage if you’re planning to leave the machine switched on when unattended. Screensavers are unnecessary for LCD panels (their necessity was somewhat dubious with CRT monitors)
