career

I am trying to transition out of the military. I’m 32 and don’t know what I want to do for a living. any suggestions?

What did you do in the military?

Does the military offer and career services? If you can’t find someone to talk to through that, it may be worth spending $100-$200 to have a good long talk with a career coach.

How about someone that cruises around in a talking car fighting crime?

How about trying out for a clerk at a 7-11 or Speedway?
You’re almost guaranteed a job and after a year you get benefits. Seriously, I think gas station or convenience-store clerking is the way to go here.

Do you have any skills that are obviously transferable? Do you have a college degree or certificate? Lacking that, are there things you did in the military that civilians have to do as well?

These might help point towards possibilities.

Well, you can always be a cop. Also, don’t be an idiot and waste your GI Bill.

IMHO, one of the best ways to waste your GI Bill is with for-profit school like the University of Phoenix.

Mostly what I was getting at was don’t dick around and run out of time to use it, leaving $10,000 or so in benefits wasted. Like a guy I know.

Good luck
