I saw a couple of obits that described him as, "Carl Reiner, actor and creator of the Dick Van Dyke Show’. That seems to u derstate his importance to the early world of television. He was much more than that.
That review almost makes me want to see the movie.
Mel Brooks would come close but I’d still go with Carl Reiner overall.

Yes, It’s sad he’s gone 
He had a tremendous sense of humor.
I remember in the Dick Van Dyke show, Carl (Alan Brady) proclaims to his staff:
"Look at all the wonderful things I gave you. A sofa, a desk.
Is that a window Mel?
Mel: Yes, Alan
Alan: Shut up Mel! You see I even gave you a window!!
He was very good with those wacky, rapid-fire skits.
He will be missed.
Now I worry about Mel Brooks; he’s one of the few we have left. I love Mel Brooks; he’s a comedic genius.
