Fried alligator tail. When I ordered it, I was expecting to receive a large tube of meat (no jokes, now), but instead it resembled a basket of fried clams.
Rabbit. Not exotic, but most people are too put off with the idea of eating a cute wittle fuzzy bunny.
Chitlins. Don’t eat this late at night, or you’ll have the same massive heartburn I got.
I had a friend who was once served tacos made with pig tails. A bit crunchy, he said.
I dont know that its so much exotic, but Caribou is a wonderful meat, probably one of the tenderest around and it doesnt have that wild taste to it. Musk Ox burgers are pretty good too.
We are, each of us angels with only one wing, and we can only fly by embracing one another
Rabbit is not exotic. They served it on a regular basis at the Memphis Naval Air Station chow hall.
Having been to the Philippines several times in the navy I know I’ve eaten dog at a barbeque stand or party. Monkey probably too because I don’t think they could have disguised a dog to look like that. After enough San Miguel beer it all tastes like genetically altered, grwon-in-a-test tube, beakless KFC chicken.

I had chamois while in Austria once. It’s a small animal related to and about the size of a young deer. Delicious. Made me want to go wash my car, though.
I say if it was once an animal, it’s meat. (Glad I’m not Catholic. :))
I also had snail (escargot) when I was about 10. It’d always been a sitcom joke, so I knew what it was. My parents asked if I was sure; actually, it was probably the most expensive appitizer.
I liked it, too. And I was a kid that hated “weird” meats, especially organs.
Which also reminds me: my mom once cooked beef tongue. That was good too, but I was freaked out all afternoon watching this bizarre-looking chuck-o-flesh being boiled for dinner. I think it was the typical “try one bite” ploy to get me to eat it. Once I tasted it, I liked it.
While we’re on the topic of meats: does anyone here not like lamb? My wife doesn’t like it, I can’t figure out why.
I once had Moose Salami. It was quite good, not greasy like storebought salami. Ostrich jerky was tough, tough tough. One small piece and you could chew on it all day. I dunno lamb never appealed to me, it was too lamby???( can’t say why).
Oh yeah, I once had a Reser’s frozen burrito. I’m still trying to figure out what kind of meat THAT was.
My dad hates lamb but he’s a really picky eater. The lambs in question were Barbados sheep, short hair as opposed to the fluffy Mary-had-a-little type. He says the meat tastes too greasy and I’ll have to admit that if mutton is not prepared right it leaves a sticky film in one’s mouth.
