Carpentry/Mechanics in Israel = $$$ ?

I had mentioned that Israel has the world’s highest per capita number of lawyers.

In response, someone who lived in Israel, said that there is a shortage of Mechanics and tradesmen (skilled blue collar labor I presume) and they can make a ‘bundle’.

Is that true? Could Roy the grease monkey down the street make 3x his current salary changing out timing belts in Jaffa?

Should we expect a mass exodus of hillbilly Carpenters to the holy land?

I think Israel has experience with a carpenter.

Yeah, but they will nail you to the cross if you violate the local codes.

According to Wikipedia, thousands of Palestinians used to be employed in blue-collar jobs in Israel, but with the separation of the two populations, Israel “gradually replaced most of the Palestinians with migrants from Thailand, Romania and elsewhere.”

But if you can survive that and make it down, you can start a worldwide movement that conquers all of Europe.

I’ve never noticed any shortage of mechanics here in Israel, but considering the Israeli preference for Japanese cars, we probably need fewer of them.

There are definitely fewer carpenters here, because there is hardly any wooden construction.

So if Jesus comes back, we’re talking public assistance? Career retraining? He better join the clergy.
