I was under the vague impression her condition had become stable so this is really sad.
I haven’t seen any of Fisher’s work other than Star Wars but at the end of the day that is what she will be remembered for. It is a great example of the sum being greater than the parts where somehow those stock characters with their famously awkward lines blended to form an irresistible cocktail of fun and adventure. Her Princess Leia will never be forgotten.
That was what Debbie Reynolds said, not any medical professional (not that they could). And ‘stable’ when someone is in ICU isn’t necessarily a positive sign.
Slightly NSFW image (not sexually graphic or anything like, just an image some might consider offensive) posted in case anybody needs a cover picture for Facebook regarding 2016’s celebrity massacre.
I picked a few:
Mark Hammil: no words #Devastated
JJ Abrams: You didn’t need to meet Carrie Fisher to understand her power. She was just as brilliant and beautiful, tough and wonderful, incisive and funny as you could imagine. What an unfair thing to lose her. How lucky to have been blessed with her at all
Colin Trevorrow <silhouette of Leia> Always
We’re now in the sharing of Facebook tributes phase, to be soon followed by the “waaaah! what about the soldiers that die without publicity?” phase of Facebook posts.
I only knew her from the Star Wars role, but it’s sad to see someone relatively young die.
It seems silly to say “My heart goes out to her mother and her daughter” since I’ve never met either of them and the closest I ever came to Carrie was in a mobbed ballroom at Dragon Con and there’s already a huge outpouring from actual friends and fans across the world, but wtf ever: my heart goes out to her mother and her daughter.
And also to her BFF, Penny Marshall, who must also be devastated. (They used to host a joint birthday party [their birthdays are a week apart, though Penny’s about 13 years older] and have been best buds for decades.)
And to her cute little dog, Gary.
