What cartoon is it in which there is a dog watching some item or other who continuously chants, “Guard guard guard guard…”? My sister put this into my head today and I cannot recall where it is from.
Ohhhh, I so remember this. I seem to recall it being a Warner Bros. cartoon. Maybe Daffy Duck trying to steal something. I can’t quite place it.
Though, this reminds me of that cartoon with Wile E. looking wolf and that sheep dog. They’d each start off each cartoon by punching into the time clock, and say, “Morning Ralph,” and, “Morning Sam,” or something like that.
I think you are talking about 101 Rabbit Tails.
The particular cartoon was where Bugs was selling the books door to door. He was forced to read the stories to the Sultan’s son.
Everytime Bugs tried to leave or stop telling stories, the son would yell for the gaurd. Bugs had to keep reading or be boiled in oil or something like that.
Sound familiar??
No, that’s not it. I’m fairly sure it was a dog, but it was definitely an animal, not a boy. And he was not calling for a guard. He was repeating over and over again “Guard guard guard guard guard guard guard guard guard”, and perhaps pacing back and forth in front of whatever he was guarding. (Perhaps if he stopped repeating it, he would forget what he was supposed to be doing? He was Not Too Bright, as I recall.)
so, I hope at some point you found this, but, if you havent…
I too had this in my head and have been looking, and came across this post in my search, so I will fill in the blank now that I have found the cartoon.
To anyone looking…Tom & Jerry Ep 186 (1975) Watch Out Watch Dog. Spike has very little to say in this episode outside of guard guard guard guard until the end. He gets an actual line or two. If you have the guard guard in your head, this is where its from.

Nice one !
Here it is …
Unfortunately, most of the posters herein haven’t been around for some
time…
yeah, that’s it. I did look and see most havent been around, but like I said, this does come up in searches, so I wanted to make sure we have an answer out in the interwebz-verse
Good thinking !
Nice pull-Thank you!
Nice job! Good to see a resurrected thread that actually provides a definite answer.
Welcome to the boards; hang around some, you might like it.
On the other hand, a question from an actual cartoon would have been so much better!
