Casement window screens

We have outward-opening casement windows in Casa Neville. The screens roll up and down like a shade. The problem I have with these screens is that the mechanism that keeps them from retracting upward isn’t foolproof. Sometimes the screens disengage and retract upward without anyone trying to release them.

This means we cannot have the windows open unless someone is within earshot, since I don’t want the screens spontaneously retracting and potentially letting bugs in and cats out. I would like these window screens a lot better if they had a hook or something on the bottom, to keep the screens from coming loose and rolling up without human assistance. Do such things exist?

I’m not sure, but I live in a house with casement windows (I understand that the better class of houses are made this way. ) Our screens mount on the inside, much like how they are mounted on the outside for ordinary windows. This might be a solution if needed.

Have we seen her wave her hand, or at the casement seen her stand? Or is she known in all the land?

This is what mine are like also. I also have two different types of casement windows, ones that crank out and ones that have a long rod that you push out.

Fixed window screens (well, you can pop them out to wash the window) are pretty much standard around here, where mosquitos and flies can be a major nuisance in the summer. For obvious reasons, they snap onto the inside of casement windows. I have never seen the type of screen you described, but I imagine that any window replacement company would be able to obtain them for you. I don’t know to what extent the window needs to be shaped in order to accommodate the ones you describe.

If all you need is a hook to hold the existing ones down, how much force is needed? Maybe a simple 3M Command clip(or two, to latch to each other?) could do the trick?
