Cashing a Check Made Out to CASH

How do I cash a check made out to CASH? Is it as simple as endorsing the back with my signature and going to my bank?

A FOAF owed me some money and instead of putting my name in Pay To line he put CASH with the excuse of not knowing how to spell my very simple name. I know it seems like a dumb question but I’ve never had to cash a check like this before. Thanks.

Yup. It’s what we call bearer paper. http://dictionary.law.com/default2.asp?selected=46&bold= You sign the back and show ID. The downside is that if you lose it and somebody else cashes it first, you lose.
