My cat, a 10 year old, medium shorthair, ate the confetti that comes out of the New Years poppers at about 12:30 am EST. The confetti is paper, and pretty long. There was a lot of confetti as well! I’m incredibly nervous. We only popped about three poppers, and we can’t find any of it, so worst case scenario is that he ate all three poppers worth. Each piece is maybe a foot or so, and they’re all incredibly thin and easy to tear. He hasn’t thrown up and he hasn’t choked.
It’s about 2 am here, so it’s been about an hour and a half and I think he’s asleep. I just want to know if there’s anything I can do or if I should worry! I’ve seen threads about cats eating paper and cats eating confetti, but I haven’t found one where the cat has eaten paper confetti! Any advice is well appreciated! Thank you!!
That’s more than a relief. He’s eaten some weird stuff before, like dead bugs, spider webs, dust and dirt but never the confetti from the poppers. You don’t think the length of the paper will effect him negatively? Or the chemicals in the poppers? (They all say they contain .2 grains or less. Still, I can never be safe enough about him.)
Don’t want to be a worry wart, but do you have any more of the poppers? All the ones that I’ve ever seen are just paper, but they don’t put mylar (think tinsel) in them do they?
Should be OK, watch the cats drinking and eating habits over the next few days. Make sure the cat is pooping as usual.
