Cat blood donations

A cat I owned in 2004 needed a blood transfusion due to an ulcer which developed as a side effect of medication. The VCA speciality hospital kept a “donor cat” on the premises for that purpose and my cat quickly recovered his vitality a day after the transfusion. The three blood types were explained to me at the time (Junior was a domestic shorthair).

The article in question seems to be “Where do they get the blood for animal blood transfusions?”

Very interesting article, especially the part about horses having over 15 different blood types.
